By Wamayhin Abubakar/YOLA/ The Coalition of Community Based Groups, Women and Youths in Adamawa has described the APC Guber candidate, Aishatu Ahmed Binani as highly divisive and incapable to govern a volatile state like Adamawa.
The group noted that since her emergence in the political space of APC, Senator Aishatu Binani has been incapable of uniting the Party that took her to the red chamber.
A statement made available to newsmen by President of the Musa Mohammed stated that the APC Guber candidate has divided the party into factions between the youths and the foundation leaders who she has relegated. Not only that, the Adamawa APC is today known for pro Ribadu and anti Ribadu blocks, courtesy of Binani.
Mohammed added that she has further polarized the fragile ethnic balance in the state when she was caught on camera to have been condescending in the way she described non- Fulani ethnic groups in Adamawa.
“She apparently does not have the skill and capability to unite the warring factions within her party. She is certainly not capable to lead a complex, multi ethnic, multi-religious State like Adamawa”, he said.
Adamawa, according to the group has enjoyed unprecedented peace under Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. “We want continuity that will lead to sustainable peace and consequent prosperity. This is the desire of all Citizens of our great State. We do not want a desperate, divisive and incompetent individual who will undermine and further underdevelop our State. No to Binani, Yes to Fintiri and Yes to good Governance”
In a relative view, Federation of Adamawa Youths Organizations also calls for the rejection of Binani in tomorrow’s rerun poll.
According to the group in a statement issued by its president “Youths of Adamawa State voted for Unity, Peace and Prosperity on March 23 and will vote the same in the re-run election on April 15. We voted for Governor Fintiri because he has brought Peace, Unity and prosperity to our great State”.
The group added that, on the other hand is Senator Binani who is known as the Divider-in-Chief of Adamawa. The group alleged Binani’s running mate, Titsi Ganama of been equally divisive. They claim he was one-time Commissioner in the State and that people have forgotten that he was responsible for the separation of Michika market into two – one for Christians and the other for Muslims because of his extreme views on coexistence between adherents of the two religions. Such a divisive governance team will be a set back for a fragile state like Adamawa which has recorded tremendous progress in the last three years plus.
W” the people of Adamawa say yes and vote for Fintiri, we vote for unity peace and progress. We say NO to Binani and Ganama, we vote against divisiveness, ethnic bigotry and religious intolerance”
“We wish to also warn that we shall monitor every action of both adhoc and permanent electoral officials during the re-run election on April 15. We urge them to adhere strictly to the rules. We are well organized and energized to counter any attempt to subvert the popular will of our people. We call on all Nigerian Leaders, including our President, and the international community to prevail on the INEC Chairman and the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner not to take any action that will subvert our popular will as we shall defend every vote”.
